PRIVACY AND SITE SECURITY: For site management functions, information is collected for analysis and statistical purposes. This information is not reported or used in any manner that would reveal personally identifiable information, and will not be released to any outside parties unless legally required to do so in connection with law enforcement investigations, other legal proceedings, or the Texas Public Information Act. We use Log analysis tools to create summary statistics, which are used for purposes such as assessing what information is of most interest to site visitors, determining technical design specifications, and identifying system performance or problem areas in order to improve the usefulness of our Web site for our visitors. The following information is collected for this analysis:

  • "IP" number or "DNS" of user/client requesting access.
  • "System Date" - The date and time when visited by the user.
  • "User-Agent" The browser (Type and version, ie. Netscape 5.0) and operating system (ie. Windows 98) of the user.
  • "The Referrer" The page from which the user/client accessed the current page. How they access our page...where they came from to get here
  • "Page Requested" - The exact request the user made, and whether successfully accessed.
  • "Method" - This is the action the user was trying to perform (ex. a GET command)
  • "Protocol" - The Protocol (HTTP, FTP) version used by the user (ex.HTTP 1.0 or HTTP 1.1)
  • "URI Stem" - The resource that the user accessed (ex. HTML page, ASP script)
  • "URI Query" - The query, if any, the user was trying to perform (ex. Search Strings)

This information is retained according to requirements in state law. This information is subject to the Texas Public Information Act and may have to be released to the public upon written request.

Your email will include your email address, which may be used to answer you directly, or we may forward your request to another TWDB office that is better able to respond to your question. We will not collect or sell your information for commercial purposes, but it is subject to the Texas Open Records Act.

Please be aware that the confidentiality of Internet transmissions is not guaranteed. If you send us an email, you assume the risk of some unauthorized person learning your email address or any other personal information you provide.

The TWDB does not use "cookies," a file placed on a visitor's hard drive that allows the Web site to monitor the individual's use of the site. No attempts are made to identify individual users unless activity believed to be compromising of our system is suspected.

For site security purposes and to ensure that this service remains available to all users, this computer system employs software programs to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage.
